GDOES 
Spectrometer

The Spectruma GDOES is a robust, temperature-stabilized CCD spectrometer developed for elemental depth profile analysis and bulk elemental analysis in the production sector. The GDA 150 HR is optimised to meet the requirements of small and medium sized companies.

The instrument can be used e.g. for the following applications:
  • to inspect the surfaces after diffusion processes
  • to examine galvanic coating processes
  • to analyse hard material coatings via PVD or CVD
  • to assess hot dip galvanising as well as other kinds of galvanising
  • to determine the elemental concentration in layers and bulk material
  • to analyse incoming base material
  • for depth profile in the production area
  • to inspect surfaces after diffusion processes
  • to examine galvanic coating processes
  • to analyse hard material coatings via PVD or CVD
  • to assess hot dip galvanising as well as other kinds of galvanising
  • to determine the elemental concentration in layers and bulk material

The GDA 150 HR is suitable for all electrically conductive matrices, as well as for light elements such as C, N and H (and optionally also O). Due to the simple device operation and high speed of an analysis cycle, it is possible to intervene quickly in the production process to correct any possible errors - a crucial advantage over conventional methods like metallographic investigations which need relatively long preparation time.
Key Features
  • The high-resolution CCD optics was developed by Spectruma as an alternative to established photomultiplier optics. It is based on a Paschen-Runge mounting optimised for CCD-detectors and has a focal length of 400 mm. The available wavelength range is 120-670 nm in the direct light path, and 200-800 nm when the light is transmitted by optical fibres. The resolution is below 20 pm.
  • The monochromator used by Spectruma exhibits a Czerny-Turner-configuration and has a focal length of 480 mm. It can be equipped with three different diffraction gratings covering a spectral wavelength range from 200 to 900 nm.
  • The sample changer, specially developed for the Spectruma Glow Discharge Analyzers, allows for the automated performance of measurements.
  • The external cooling device is highly efficient in keeping a constant sample temperature. It is recommended for the analysis of heat sensitive and/or thin samples, but also for common depth profile measurements lasting longer than approximately 500 seconds.
