Solar Energy – Heat Flux Sensors

$50.00

  • The effective measurement of heat flow through exterior walls is crucial to understanding the energy consumption and efficiency of any building. Environmental conditions determined by location, design, structural conditions, and the materials used in construction can all contribute to heat loss; influencing energy efficiency, and consequently, costs.
  • Today it is well known that large discrepancies can occur between expected and actual energy loss through heat transfer, revealing flaws, or areas for improvement and re-design. With heat-flux sensors, it is possible to take on-site measurements, accurately and efficiently, for quality control and long-term monitoring.

Description

The MF-180 is a thin, sensitive, heat flux sensor. Small and easy to handle, the MF-180 is easy to attach to and detach from a range of surfaces. It can measure medium to low heat flux values, and is suitable for a range of applications; with a measurement range from -30 ֯C to 120 ֯C.

A heat flux sensor is a thermopile, an electronic device that translates thermal energy into electrical voltage proportional to the temperature gradient across its thermocouples’ hot and cold junctions. To generate a high enough measurable voltage, heat flux sensors are equipped with multiple thermocouple junctions connected in series, distributed over the area of the sensor.

EKO Instruments offers a selection of thin substrate heat-flux sensors, in a range of different sizes and thicknesses; an ideal option for research and engineering applications as well as manufacturing control and monitoring processes.

The HF-10S measures heat flux through an object it is mounted to, in W/m2. The HF-10S features a very thin design and has a low thermal resistance. Heat flux sensors can be used in a variety of research applications and manufacturing control processes. EKO has various types of thin substrate heat flux sensors in the product line-up.

A heat flux sensor is a thermopile sensor which generates an electric signal proportional to the temperature difference (∆T) across the thermocouple hot and cold junctions. To generate a measurable voltage, heat flux sensors have multiple thermocouples spread over the total area connected in series. EKO heat flux sensors are available in different sizes and thickness.

The HF-30S is a large area (300 x 300mm) fthin foil heat flow sensor. Due to its large sizes it gives properly averaged thermal conductivity results for large areas without the potential risk of measuring local hot spot effects or thermal bridges.

The low output Voltage of the heat flow sensor can be easily converted to a 4-20mA current or higher Voltage using the MS-4..20mA converter. The mV/mA converter can be pre-programmed and optimized within the operating range compatible with common measurement equipment.

  • Thinnest heatflux sensor on the market
  • Large area sensor
  • Low thermal resistance
  • Weather proof
