Pulverizing

Short grinding time – long service life
The HP-MA is suitable for grinding a wide variety of minerals such as cement raw meal, clinker, cement, slag, ores, oxydes and ferro-alloys. The high RPM of the drive motor guarantees a short grinding time even for hard materials. The robust construction with, e.g., dual bearing support for the eccentric shaft ensure long service lives.

Effective avoidance of cross-contamination
After pulverizing the grinding vessel is automatically emptied and the ground material is made available at the discharge point. Three automatic cleaning features namely compressed air, sand cleaning (option) and wet cleaning (option) allow a sufficient material removal. Using the different cleaning functions, cross-contamination can be reduced to a low ppm level. Furthermore, spoon sampling (option) during the material input provides the possibility to pre-contaminate the grinding with the subsequent sample. 

Various options, flexible configuration
The HP-MA can be equipped with a dosing system for solid or liquid grinding aids to improve grinding efficiency. Cooling of the grinding vessel, magnetic separator and cleaning device for transport cups are available as options. The HP-MA can be used as a stand-alone machine, with 30 or 60 position magazines, and in combination with the pellet press HP-PA or other components. Due to the modular design of the machine different and completely flexible set-ups for linear or robot automation are possible.

HP- MA: Automatic Pulverizing Mill

Robust design – long service life
HERZOG HP-M series pulverizing mills are suitable for grinding a wide variety of minerals such as cement raw meal, clinker, cement, slag, ores, oxides, and ferroalloys. The high RPM of the drive motor guarantees short grinding processes even with hard materials. The motor speed is steplessly adjustable between 700 rpm and 1.500 rpm. The robust construction with, for example, dual bearing support for the eccentric shaft ensures long service life.

HP- M: Automatic Pulverizing Mill

Specially designed for large sample volumes
The HP-M1500 is the optimal pulverizing mill for grinding of big volume samples. Depending on the density of the material it can accept up to 1500 g of material smaller than 5 mm in diameter. The large capacity of the HP-M1500 carries many advantages like processing of high-surface material, improved sample representativeness, and more efficacious homogenization.

Proven technology for various material types
The HP-M1500 allows full control of grinding parameters and comes with an extensive set of standard and optional equipment. For that reason, the HP-M1500 is suitable for a wide range of different applications and material including ores, concentrates, electronic scrap, catalysts, lime stone, coal and many others. The HP-M1500 is designed for stand-alone operation, connection to a magazine or integration into automation. 

Optimum grinding results
The disc mill HP-M1500 allows efficient pulverizing of varying and disparate sample material from soft to brittle. The grinding vessel is mounted on a precisely aligned spring supported system for effective horizontal oscillations without tumbling. The whirling movement accelerates the ring and stone via centrifugal forces and starts the grinding process based on impact and friction.

The HP-M1500 has been designed to guarantee sample comminution within the targeted grain size and the shortest possible processing time. Accordingly, all relevant machine parameters like, e.g., oscillatory frequency can be flexibly controlled using the machine HMI or the HERZOG Prepmaster software. Special milling sets with hardened chrome-steel stone and rings are available for susceptible samples to ensure a gentle pulverizing procedure. For particular applications, a continuous/open-circuit version of the HP-M1500 is offered. 

Efficacious cleaning measures
The machine is self-cleaning after each sample preparation cycle. All parts of the machine being in contact with sample material are automatically cleaned by compressed air. Fine dust will be removed by an external dust collector (option) which is controlled by the machine PLC. Therefore, cross contamination between samples can easily be minimized.

For special requirements, automatic solid cleaning of the grinding vessel with, e.g., quartz sand, or plastic granulate is available as an option. The cleaning material container can be flexibly placed next to the machine for comfortable refilling by the operator. Depending on the material types processed with the HP-M1500 can be also delivered with a wet cleaning functionality.

HP-M 1500: Automatic Pulverizing Mill

Optimal for larger sample amounts
The sample material, up to 5 kg, is loaded by manual or by external handling devices into a sample transport bucket and placed onto a start position in front of the machine. The large capacity of the HP-M5000 carries many advantages like processing of high-surface material, improved sample representativeness and more efficacious homogenization.

Robust design suited for laboratory operation
The grinding system is automatically cleaned by compressed air after each grinding cycle. An external dust extraction device is required to remove waste material and dust. The machine is totally enclosed, sound insulated and requires a minimum of operator time and maintenance. Safety switches automatically deactivate the machine in case of malfunctions during operation. The welded frame and all other components are extremly robust to porvide a long service life without any trouble.

HP- M 5000: Automatic Pulverizing Mill

Excellence in grinding and pelletizing
The grinding process can be optimally controlled and adapted by using variable rotational speed. The high RPM of the drive motor guarantee short grinding processes even with hard materials. The hydraulic systems allow a well-controlled and precise pressure build-up and (pressure) reduction for a production of reproducible pellets under optimal conditions.

Safe and user-friendly
The HP MP is hermetically sealed and sound insulated. Safety circuits provide protection for the operating personnel. The safety hood enables easy access for operation and maintenance. Dust is collected by an external dust extraction device which can also be supplied as an option.
 
Easy to use and flexible
The integrated Simatic S7 PLC control system guarantees error-free, automatic preparation of the widest possible variety of samples. Up to 8 parameter-definable preparation programs can be stored and password- protected. The operation steps: sample dosing adding of grinding and pressing additives in pellet form, grinding time and pelletizing parameters can be set as program parameters at the control panel. The operation steps for grinding and pressing can be separately selected. This allows a purposeful and selective processing of different sample types. 

Modular
The system is designed to allow the integration into automatic sample preparation systems with the use of special designed automation components like conveyor belts, cleaning and magazine systems for steel rings. Standard Interfaces are available to connect the machine to most of the automated XRF instruments. Further automation concepts like the link to automated powder sampling and sample transport systems are available. 

Flexibility in grinding vessel and pressing tool
Grinding vessels made out of hardened tool steel or made out of tungsten carbide can alternatively be used. Press tools for the operation with standard 51mm or 40mm diameter steel rings are available for this machine. The Machine is self-cleaning after each sample preparation cycle. All parts of the machine in contact with sample material are automatically cleaned by compressed air or brushes.

HP-MP: Combined Pulverizing Mill and pellet Press

Space-saving solution for a wide range of application
The HSM 50 is the compact bench-top machine for efficient pulverizing. The grinding mill is suitable for pulverizing of different kinds of material, for example silicate, cement, ceramic material, ores, iron sinter, slag ferroalloys and various other minerals. According to the application, the operator can choose between 10 or 50 ccm grinding vessel (chrome steel or tungsten carbide). 

Simple operation
The sample material is filled into the grinding vessel. Then, the grinding vessel with puck and lid is inserted and fixed manually using the machine clamping device. The grinding time is can be adjusted and the grinding cycle is initiated by pressing the start button. 

Safe operation
After closing the flap the machine is locked during the grinding operation by a safety switch. The grinding vessel is manually removed from the machine and the ground material can be discharged for further processing. The machine is totally enclosed, sound insulated and requires a minimum of operator’s time and maintenance. Safety switches automatically deactivate the machine in case of malfunctions during operation.

HSM 50: Manual Pulverizing Mill

Optimally suited for laboratory operation
The HERZOG pulverizing mill HSM offers the full benefits of program-controlled sample preparation for x-ray fluorescence analysis. Pulverizing with the HERZOG HSM significantly increases reproducibility and accuracy of sample preparation. The HSM is fully encapsulated, insulated against noise, and has safety cutouts for operator protection. Dust and noise burden is reduced, and safety enhanced. The HSM is a high-quality, precision engineering product with compact dimensions. It is ideally suited for laboratory requirements.

The HERZOG HSM vibration disk mill is suitable for pulverizing of minerals, slags, ferroalloys and other basic material. The high-speed of the drive motor enables the grinding of even hard materials with short process times. Due to the robust design with twin eccentric disk bearings, the HSM mill achieves a long service life with a minimum of maintenance. 

Complete flexibility
The pulverizing parameters of the Herzog HSM mill are controlled by a PLC program. This allows an easy operation of the machine and complete flexibility in the selection of processing parameters. HSM 100 / HSM 250: Manual Pulverizing Mill

Shorter grinding process, long service life
The high speed of the drive motor guarantees for short grinding processes even for hard materials. The robust build with double eccentric bearing ensures a long service life of the mill at the lowest maintenance effort.

Simple operation without application of force
The grinding vessel is firmly attached to the vibrating aggregate and can be opened and closed by a handle. The good accessibility enables fast and clean filling of the grinding vessel. The grinding vessel lid is locked pneumatically. After grinding, the sample material is filled into a stainless steel cup and can be removed at once at the output position during the cleaning of the vessel.

Automatic grinding vessel cleaning
The grinding vessel is cleaned automatically after every grinding process. Thus, the work place dust load is much decreased. The handling of heavy grinding vessels is therefore completely eliminated.

Programmable logic control
The integrated Simatic PLC guarantees for reliable, automatic sample preparation of many different sample materials.
Up to 5 processing programs can be stored. All parameters for grinding duration and grinding speed, as well as for sample output and cleaning are deposited as program parameters and can be set at the control panel.

HP M100 P: Semi-automatic Pulverizing Mill

Preparation of large sample volumes
This modular machine is designed for the preparation of coarse ores, minerals and similar materials in the range of 1 to 15 kg input weight with a particle size of less than 50 mm to split off a representative sample of approx. 250g to 1,000g of finely pulverized sample material for analysis. 

Modular design
The machine consists of two individual working units: crusher/ linear Splitter (HP- BT) and mill HP- M1500. The crusher/linear splitter HP-BT is equipped with a manual sample input for coarse material, a weighing system, a lift for transporting the sample into the internal in feed position, a jaw crusher, a vibration feeder, a linear Splitter as well as an output for residue material and an input for empty sample cups. The mill HP-M1500 includes a sample take over the device from the crusher to the mill, a cup lift for transporting the sample into the grinding vessel, a sample outlet device, a cup weighing unit and a cup output transport.

Perfectly developed for the mining industry
The operator selects one of the available individual programs by pushing a button on a separate front panel. The input flap will open automatically. All further preparation steps including cleaning are fully automatic without the need for operator`s invention. The operator just removes the ready ground material for further processing.

HP-BTM: Automatic Combination Crusher/ Splitter/ Pulverizing Mill

Designed for large volume samples
To cover a broad range of applications the input weight can be between 1 and 15 kg. The maximum particle size, which can be introduced in the HP-BTM2, is 50 mm. The general application of the HP-BTM2 is particle size reduction and sub-sampling in order to obtain a representative sample for final analysis with X-ray fluorescence. To eliminate operational risks, the sample weights are monitored after each preparation step.

Modular design
The machine consists of the following main individual working units: Crusher/ linear Splitter (HP-BT), cup handling device (HK-RX3), 2x mill HP-M1500. The first preparation step is a size reduction done by a jaw crusher. A vibration feeder which is located below the crusher ensures a constant material flow into the subsequent linear splitting unit. The linear splitter allows a representative sub-sampling of adjustable volumes into two cups (1.5 l). Calculating the desired splitting ratio (sample/residue material) is done automatically. Residual material is discharged via a vibration feeder to a waste bucket or a de-dusting system. The cup handling between the single compounds is done by a swivel- mounted 2 axis handling device with a robot gripper. These mills allow fine grinding of the crushed material to a particle size suitable for creating a final sub-sample. This pulverized sub-sample can be used, e.g., forthe preparation of fused beads for chemical analysis by XRF.
